Circle of Love

Circle of Love is how volunteers bring Amma's unconditional love to members of our community through simple loving service.

Thaila Sundaresan started Circle of Love in 2000 to support M.A. Center community members who needed a little help. At first, this involved local satsang members bringing cooked food to the sick and helping with small errands like grocery shopping or rides to the doctor. Since recipients needed encouragement and upliftment in between visits, Circle of Love Letters began.

Present activities

Circle of Love at the MA Center still serves community members who need a little help. When someone asks the MA Center for help, their need is communicated to local satsang groups. The needs of recipients and the skills and willingness of available volunteers determines what can be done.

To aid our larger community, volunteers partner with local organizations. For example, we work

- With Fruitvale Elementary School in Oakland, CA to help evacuees from 2005 hurricanes, and
- With SAVE to comfort and support victims of domestic violence, and
- With Evergreen Care Facility in Castro Valley, CA to bring love and cheer to elderly residents by visiting them.

Circle of Love Letters' volunteers write letters of love and support to community members who are sick, grieving or isolated. Recipients need not reply.

Circle of Love Inside brings Amma's love to people in prison through letters, visits, books and tapes.

How you can help

Let your local satsang know what you could do and that you are willing to help local people who may need help from time to time. Circle of Love Letters needs some letter writers. This seva involves writing letters of love and support to people in our communities who are sick, grieving or isolated. You sign up for 2 months and write a letter each week to between 2 and 4 people.
