M. A. Center

M.A. Center was the first US Affiliate of MA Mission Charitable Trust. Founded in 1989 it is an independent tax exempt organization that supports the MA Mission Charitable Trust's spiritual, educational and charitable activities as well as supporting other organizations.

M.A. Center organizes and sponsors Amma's North American visits each year when she tours in major cities across the United states and Canada. The center also schedules retreats held by Amma's senior disciples as well as meditation courses.

Community projects that MA Center conducts and supports through various affiliated chapters in many North American cities include feeding the poor and homeless, support of battered women's and children's shelters, support for the elderly and sick and homebound and ecology activities such as planting trees and gardens. Various special medical camps are held as well as Interfaith conferences and get togethers.

MA Center helps coordinate the activities of about 120 chapters throughout the US. Over the last 12 years Dayamrita Chaitanya has acted as the executive director.

The headquarters of MA Center is located on several hundred acres of pristine rolling hills located in the east bay about one hour from San Francisco. Amma visits the center twice a year in the summer and winter when public programs and retreats highlighting her visit are scheduled.

The site is a regional hub for regional chapters and weekly programs of satsangs, retreats, festivals and holy days are held throughout the year.

A small agricultural demonstration program provides fresh vegetables and emphasizes sustainability, ecological principles and provides an ample opportunity for selfless service (seva).

The MA Center residential program provides opportunities for those who are attracted to Amma;s teachings and want to live in the community. There are balanced programs of daily Archana, Bhajans, Satsangs and Seva.

Each year thousands of visitors come for brief stays at the Center attending classes in spiritual education, yoga and healthy living.
